I was so extremely lucky that night. Looking at it now, there are so many things that could have gone wrong while shooting, but haven’t for which I am very, very thankful to any photography god out there 😀 Thanks so much for your comment, Andrew!

Andreas, one option I am considering is time lapse during a storm. A friend of mine had some excellent lightning shots simply by setting the camera on a tripod and using an Intervalometer.

I did a very amateur-esque approach to exactly that. Counting time and hitting the long-time-exposure until the flash went by. I have a third shot in the whole series, which is good enough to publish. I’ll add an explanation of how I did it to the post. Maybe, there is one or the other hint for some others to it.
