Black & White – visiting guardians – Pragfriedhof Stuttgart

When I started the Christmas countdown series, I had one post in mind pretty much immediately. The Weeping Angel. Only the image was not yet done. Not a big problem, though since the site is close to my home. During an afternoon walk through Stuttgart’s Pragfriedhof – the third largest cemetery of Stuttgart – the image was taken. Open for nearly 140 years, it contains the only crematorium in Stuttgart.

Not that I am a big fan of cemeteries, crypts and that kind, but it was fascinating to what lengths families went to honor their lost ones.

Christmas Countdown 21/24 – it’s about you

I wanted to take the opportunity for a different kind of blog post in this series. Not with a christmas-picture.

As chance wants it, this is blog post #100 and with this one, I want to thank you, reader, liker, commenter, who- or wherever you are. Each and everyone of you who are reading this and who have read or looked at my posts so far. You came from more than 90 countries and have viewed these 100 posts over 20.000 times. Thank you for taking the time, commenting, liking and linking this blog or its posts. When I started this about half a year ago, I never thought this would grow to this. I wanted to have something for my family. Instead – or better in addition – it turned out, that many more – that you – have interest in it, too.

Thank you for providing me feedback, encouragement and inspiration. In so many ways. Commenting, your own posts or even your comments on others posts. I have never met so much creativity and positive energy in a free environment, so much expertise in an area I want to improve myself in. Thank you.

Even though, you might not celebrate Christmas on December 24th, or you don’t even celebrate Christmas or anything alike at all, I hope, you have a few quiet and enjoyable days ahead. I know that when I arrive at my family’s place today – safely and not too late, hopefully – Christmas time really starts. A time to get together with the family. To get away from work and the stressful life for a bit. And this is what I wish for you, as well. A bit of time with the ones that are close to you. A bit of time to celebrate love and gratitude.

Thanks to you.

Daily Black and White – In motion

English translation below

Was ich ganz besonders an Nachtfotografie mag?

Bad Cannstatt-DE, Riesenrad

Riesenrad auf dem Bad Cannstatter Frühlingsfest

There is one part, I especially like about shooting pictures at night. I love to play with the artifical light available. To change forms through movement. Lightpoints turn into lines or even ellipses. An ordinary Ferris wheel turns into a disc or illuminated rings.

Daily Black and White – Gravur

English translation below.

Gravierte Steine in Bern-CH

A little post scriptum from my trip to Bern. Around 12,000 Stones were used to pave the way of the bear park of Bern. At the end of 2008 donators could ‘buy’ an individual graving on one of the path stones by giving the park 100 Swiss Francs or more. During this initiative more than 1.2 Million Francs were collected and the path on the eastern side of the park received a whole lot of new cobble stones.

ASG @ Kap Tormentoso, Stuttgart

English translation below

The US-band ASG visited Stuttgart’s ‘Kap Tormentoso’ club to have the last gig of their euopean tour. While Bomb Whateva¿ warmed up the crowd in the club just fine, ASG brought everybody and everything to the boiling point. Literally.

Daily B&W – Zwischen den Jahren

English translation below

Mallorca-ESP, Balearic Islands

In den Bergen Mallorcas

‘Between the years’ is a term, which I heard a lot as a kid. Our family tried to avoid to work or cause any big noises. A time to come together in harmony. Or a time to travel for vacation. This is how the image was done between Christmas Eve and New Years day when we were hiking in the mountains of Mallorca.

Daily B&W – singing low

English translation below

It might look like your ordinary concert hall, but the audience is sitting a couple of hundreds of meters beneath sea level. The potash salt mine »Glückauf« is still in limited use. But the most revenue is achieved through concerts and other events inside the mine.

A little Brain twister for the weekend. There is going to be Irish beer in an Irish Pub, while two English teams are playing football against each other on the screens. However, all this happens in Paris, France. Cheers!
